Other Ministries

ALTAR GUILD – Prepares the church for services, particularly the Altar area.

ACOLYTES – Anyone, from 1st grade on, is eligible to be an acolyte.  They assist with the preparation of the Lord's table, carry the cross and the tapers, and ring the sanctuary bells.

BROTHERHOOD OF ST. ANDREW – A ministry of Study, Prayer and Service for men and boys.  The Brotherhood is the custodian of the Stations of the Cross, handles Meals on Wheels, arranges transportation for those parishioners needing rides and conduct other sercice projects.  They meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at 8:00 am.  Take a look at the National Website.

COFFEE MAKERS – These teams prepare coffee for fellowship time following the 10:15 service, approximately 3-4 times per year.

DAUGHTERS OF THE KING – The Daughters is an order for women and girls dedicated to prayer and service. Take a look at the National Website.

USHERS – This important ministry greets people as they enter the church, hands out bulletins, and directs people to Sunday School and other areas.

LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS (LEMs) – A Lay person licensed by the bishop to share the sacrament with members of the congregation unable to be present in church. If you are interested in joining or would like service from the LEMs, contact the office.

LAY PASTORAL CARE TEAM – Assist parishioners in dealing with pastoral emergencies and problems.

LAY READERS & LECTORS – Lay Readers lead corporate worship (Morning Prayer), in the absence of a Clergy Person. Lectors read the lessons and psalms.

OUTREACH COMMITTEE- The outreach committee is activly invovled with the needs of our local community and world wide concerns.  We collect food each Sunday to bring to a local food bank.  We prepare hot meals twice a month for those in need at Rising Hope Mission Church.  We collect pop tabs to support the good work of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.  We give funds to a variety of youth programs and we support Episcopal Relief & Development world wide on a continuing basis and during crisis.

SACRAMENT BEARERS – Any person or family of St. James’ is eligible to become a Sacrament Bearer and bring the elements up to the Altar.

ST. MARTHA’S GUILD – This small, but dedicated group keeps the kitchen organized, clean, and healthy.

WELCOMING TEAM – This important ministry assists in making our newest members feel welcome.
