Memorial for Colonel Paul R. Walters

COLONEL PAUL R. WALTERS

U. S. Army (Retired) and the oldest living West Point Graduate, died on February 24, 2011. He was a long time member of St. James. Betty and Paul were often seen at the 8:00am service.  Col. Walters loved his music and entertaining others by playing the piano as witnessed at his 100th birthday party held at St. James’ in 2008.  He enjoyed people and played golf well into his nineties, but loved his family most of all! He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Elizabeth J. Walters, and their children: COL (Ret.) James P. Walters; COL (Ret.) Michael J. Walters and Dr. Elizabeth J. Walters and their spouses; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  Col. Walters was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery on June 16.
